In the Morning

Cause me to hear Thy loving kindness in the morning: for in Thee do I trust, cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto Thee.

~Psalm 143:8

1 Peter 1:22

“Let your souls be sanctified by obedience to the Truth,

and be filled with sincere love, so that you may love one another with pure and perfect hearts,

being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the Word of God, which lives and abides forever.” 1 Peter 1:22

Broken chains

Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean.

Shake thyself from the dust; arise, and sit down, O Jerusalem: loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion.

For thus saith the LORD, Ye have sold yourselves for nought; and ye shall be redeemed without money. ~Isaiah 52:1-3

2011 already?

So wow it has been a whole month already! Incredible! One thing I have to say is I love North Carolina weather! Today it was in the high 60’s “gorgeous, beautiful, wish you were here!”

Things are going really well, I am moving into my new apartment the end of Feb and I am so excited. It’s going to be like Christmas. I can go up to Ct and get my stuff out of storage, some things I haven’t seen in four or five years! Really so excited :) so happy to have my own place and space. I will have a roommate but we have our own room and bathrooms it will be fine, and we get along really well.

Any way that is what is going on down here…whats going on with you!?

Merry Christmas!

So a few things have changed since I last updated. I have been working a lot more hours at the Home Health Aide job, and doing the two days a week babysitting. I have not worked for Yankee Candle in 2 weeks, which is fine. They didn’t have many hours and it was a 40 min drive, not missing that (also they paid the least of the 3 jobs).

Things are good except we have had unseasonably cold weather with a bit of snow and ice, which is all they need here to put everyone in a tail spin! But it should be warmer this week in the 40’s I am looking forward to that!

This poem/Christmas carol has been coming to mind because of all the drama in the world at this time- drug cartels out of control in Mexico, North/South Korea tensions, Middle East drama…it goes on. I thank God that “He is not dead nor doth He sleep”!

I heard the bells on Christmas day
Their old familiar carols play,
And wild and sweet the words repeat
Of peace on earth, good will to men.

I thought how, as the day had come,
The belfries of all Christendom
Had rolled along th’unbroken song
Of peace on earth, good will to men.

And in despair I bowed my head:
‘There is no peace on earth, ‘ I said
‘For hate is strong, and mocks the song
Of peace on earth, good will to men.’

Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:
‘God is not dead, nor doth He sleep;
The wrong shall fail, the right prevail,
With peace on earth, good will to men.’

Till, ringing, singing on its way,
The world revolved from night to day
A voice, a chime, a chant sublime,
Of peace on earth, good will to men.

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

So Mom and I went to the outlets in Smithfield today, think Clinton Crossings or the Westbrook. No we didn’t go to shop…we went  job hunting.  :) I am still waiting to hear about the companion job, but the lady on the phone was not very helpful about when I would know either way….So we went to find something for the holidays. I made sure to pick places that I wouldn’t be tempted to spend my meager paycheck. It was an interesting way to spend an afternoon, I haven’t done retail since the early 90’s so this should be fun.I applied at a kitchen novelties store, Coach and Yankee Candle.

Check back soon for the update! :)

Things are going…slow. Waiting to hear back from jobs after filling out an application and leaving a resume. That part is so hard. But it’s been nice being with my parents.

This morning my Mom left early to watch Zach for Kate, so a little later my Dad says loudly through my bedroom door “you sleepin’ in there?”  thinking to myself  “um I was”….to him “why?” cause he had made pancakes for breakfast. Oy vey ok, I guess I can get up. We had a lovely pancake breakfast. For some reason  he got talking about when he was stationed at Camp Lejeune here in NC when he was in the Marines.  He found some other guys who needed a ride up north and they would go up every weekend!  That was before 95 was built! They would follow Rt 301 and Rt1 up to the Jersey Parkway. “Of course” he says, ” there wasn’t the traffic then, that there is today”, but still…wow. They would leave Friday after work to go up, and then leave Sunday afternoon to come back! Crazy!! Papa worked at Mallon Chevrolet back then so Dad got oil changes there and just about any other car related stuff . I knew that my Papa worked there, but didn’t know that my Dad would go get his V8 Studebaker “hooked up”! :)

It was nice to see  and listen to him remember “the good ole days”. You know, those days so far back all you can remember are the good times?  And during that pancake breakfast I think “this is it, this is way I moved down here”. To hear stories of my parents younger days, to have these moments.  Even though it’s been hard and quite an adjustment, it’s worth it.
